Marty Smith appointed State Property Officer, effective March 18
On March 18, Governor Brian Kemp officially appointed Marty Smith as Georgia’s State Property Officer. By the powers designated to the State Property Officer, he will serve as the Executive Director of the Georgia Building Authority and State Properties Commission, and the Director of the Construction Division and Executive Secretary for the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission.
A long-time resident of Carroll County, Georgia, Marty Smith served as Chairman of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners, directing major capital projects, increasing cash reserves, improving operational efficiencies, raising employee morale and lowering property taxes. Smith has extensive experience in the commercial construction industry, where he managed site developments throughout the Southeast while owning his own grading company. Smith is an alumnus of both Carrollton City Schools and The University of West Georgia, where he holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management.
Smith succeeds Steven L. Stancil, who retired effective February 1.
