Shovels turn at Moultrie Technical College

April 17, 2012 - Shovels turned this week at Moultrie Technical College, site a of a new 46,000-square-foot Allied Health Programs building is being built. Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Ron Jackson was joined with other dignitaries and school officials for the ceremonial event.

Construction on the $9.5 million building actually began earlier this year and is expected to be completed in October. The center will house areas of instruction in emergency medical technology, medical assisting, neuromuscular therapy, patient care assisting, practical nursing and radiologic technology.

The new two-story building, which complements the existing classroom and administration building, will double the current instructional capacity for the Colquitt County technical college. The design also provides for indoor and outdoor student gathering spaces and a landscaped pedestrian plaza and covered walkway that ties the campus together.

The Technical College System of Georgia, said Commissioner Ron Jackson, is working hard to provide world-class medical training at colleges across the state. Strong health care, he said, helps attract business and improves the quality of life.
