Mike Saade, an engineer in Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission’s Design Review division, has been named the 2009 Georgia Fire Sprinkler Official of the Year.

Annually since 1989 the Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association recognizes the state’s outstanding fire sprinkler professional. This award is presented to the fire official that is a proponent of automatic fire sprinklers and supports and promotes the use of these systems. This award was presented to Saade at the Annual Life, Fire & Safety Awards Luncheon, sponsored by the Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine, on Oct. 29 at the Georgia Railroad Freight Depot.

A native of Atlanta, Saade’s first job was with a fire protection company. He designed these systems for more than 20 years before joining the State Fire Marshal’s Office in 1993. Saade, who holds Level IV, NICET Certification in sprinkler systems, reviewed contractor-submitted sprinkler installation drawings while at the Fire Marshal’s Office, in addition his contributions to the state’s Fire Sprinkler Law.

Saade joined GSFIC in 2001 and reviews system installation drawings as well as inspections.
