Marvin Woodward named GSFIC Deputy Director

Marvin Woodward has been named deputy director of the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission’s Construction Division. Woodward, who is also the deputy state property officer, has served as acting deputy director for the last six months.

“Marvin’s leadership, knowledge and enthusiasm make him the perfect fit to lead GSFIC’s Construction Division,” said State Property Officer (SPO) Steve Stancil.

As deputy to SPO, Woodward assists Stancil with overseeing the operations of the Construction Division of GSFIC as well as the Georgia Building Authority and the Georgia State Properties Commission.   In his expanded role, Woodward will manage the construction services, procurement, human resources, accounting and legal services for GSFIC as well as work with state agencies who utilize GSFIC’s construction management services.

Woodward has more than 25 years of engineering experience. Before being named deputy state property officer in 2008, he served as chief engineer at Georgia Regional Transportation Authority where he was responsible for the management and coordinator of the authority’s transportation projects. Prior to working with GRTA, Woodward worked for the Federal Highway Administration, the New Jersey Department of Transportation and private road construction companies. His experience includes on-site construction management, cost estimating, project design, environment document preparation and metropolitan planning.

“Marvin has served the public for nearly three decades and his project management skills and leadership are great assets for GSFIC and the state of Georgia,” said Stancil.
