GSFIC's Design Review Team Recognized for Innovation

The Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission’s Construction Services Design Review Group was honored with the 2009 Georgia Association of State Facilities Administrators Innovation Award presented at the Fall GASFA Conference.
The award, selected by a panel of GASFA members, recognizes outstanding achievement by a state facility organization in establishing an innovative new program that improves customer service.
In the spring of this year, the GSFIC Design Review Group launched its “Automated Electronic Design Review and Project Collaboration” initiative. The automated process involves Virtual Project Team Workspaces, allowing design teams to work collaboratively and concurrently even though they are in different locations.
Project documents are uploaded and downloaded quickly and efficiently to the Design Review Web Portal. Users may access a consolidated view of tasks, documents and workflows. The new initiative saves project turnaround time and project cost. It also improves customer service by facilitating better communications and easer access to the GSFIC Design Review Group. Additionally, the electronic design review reduces the amount of paper used by GSFIC, agencies and design review professionals.
“This is a great example of the GSFIC’s dedication to improving service delivery for our customers and project partners,” said Carmen Cureton, Director of Construction Services. “And, we will continue to find creative and innovative solutions to ensure we are providing the best construction management services in the state.”
