GNTC holds groundbreaking at Gordon County Campus
Georgia Northwestern Technical College held groundbreaking ceremonies on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, to mark the beginning of construction for the college's Gordon County Campus Administration and Classroom Building.
Dr. Craig McDaniel, GNTC President, welcomed guests and gave an overview of the building as well as the process that had taken place to get to the point of construction. The ceremony also included guest speakers Steve Stancil, State Property Officer and director of the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission's construction division; Cathy Harrison, GNTC board member; Mack Cunningham, Principal for the Architecture Group, Inc.; Carl Hair, Senior Vice President for Hardin Construction Company, LLC.; and Otis Raybon, board member for the Technical College System of Georgia. Michael Johns, Gordon County Campus Construction Management student, also participated in the ceremony as the student representative for Georgia Northwestern Technical College.
The new facility will house a bookstore, computer classrooms, faculty offices, classrooms and labs, library, catering kitchen, and conference center, as well as, offices for academic affairs, student services, and administrative services.
