On Monday, August 12, 2019, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Coastal Crime Laboratory in Pooler.  The 64,000-square foot project allows for increased staffing capacity, higher efficiency for lab testing, and easier accessibility for customers to deliver and retrieve forensic evidence.  This facility contains a full-service morgue and will be set up to allow for forensic biology, forensic chemistry, firearms, and forensic toxicology services.
